Sloppy Joe’s by GEORGE®
2 lbs ground beef (or venison)
2-2 1/2 cups GEORGE’S Frank’s RedHot®, Old Bay®, Zatarain’s®, Spicy or Mild Bloody Mary Mix
1 small onion, diced
1 jalapeño, minced
3 garlic cloves, minced
4 T brown sugar
2 T tomato paste
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper (opt. we like the heat!)
1 tsp dry mustard
1 T apple cider vinegar
salt and pepper to taste
Brown the meat (we used venison so we browned the meat in a little butter and olive oil). Drain fat if using ground beef. Add the onion, jalapeño, and garlic and cook for a couple minutes so the veggies soften a little, stirring occasionally. Add GEORGE’S, the brown sugar, tomato paste, dry mustard, crushed red pepper (if using), apple cider vinegar and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer for about a half hour to desired thickness and for the flavors to marry, making sure to stir occasionally. Add a little water or GEORGE’S if needed if it gets to thick. Serve on warmed buns.
